Blogger Link : Noah & His Pots.
I want to talk about the Prophet Noah a.s., of the big flood fame and his clay pots.
After the great glood subsided and the ark had landed on a suitable spot, the Prophet Noah, according to stories, was instructed by the Lord to start making clay pots.
Since he is a Prophet and therefore obedient, he did not ask whether it is for a new hawker-style franchise or whatever, he just made pots.
Because he is a Prophet, he doesn't stop until he is told and only after he had piled a vertiable mountain of claywares did word come down for him to stop.
He stood back and marveled at the collection of earthenware before him and before Noah could stop admiring the handiwork, God told him to pull one out from the pile.
So he did.
The whole pile came crashing down and everything broke.
Startled by the effect, he asked God why he told him to make so many pots and then made him pull one out and cause it all to break.
God said to him, and I am paraphrasing here:
"It was just a pile of pots and yet you feel pain in your heart when it is ruined. I had just flooded the whole world because you, my prophet were not happy with your people and asked that they be damned.
"Can you imagine how I feel?
"I created them, nurtured them from nothing to infant to adulthood and I had to ruin it all because you asked me," thundered the Heavenly response.
Upon hearing this, Noah cried because he understood that his supplication resulted in such damage to the world.
According to the storyteller, he was then told that no one henceforth, prophet or otherwise would be allowed to make supplication/do'a/prayer for the damnation of others.
From that point forward Prophets only asked that the misguided be shown the path and make amends for the errors of their way.
Why am I telling you this story? Because I want to remind myself and my readers that one should not ask others to be damned, tak boleh sumpah laknat ni, tak boleh.
