a funeral and two weddings. and in between.

kak lang selamat di kebumikan. the aftermath ... isu sapa yang lebih berhak dan lebih patut dan lebih berkelayakan untuk jaga mak.

majlis perkahwinan anak buah selamat dijalankan minggu lepas di kuala selangor. ponek pak cik bolom yo hilang lagi ni ha. sengal2 otot satu badan. bulan depan majlis perkahwinan abang ipar pulak di kampung.

sempat bini pak cik berpesan "abang sekarang ni jadi orang kuat. takder saper lagi yang tinggal. kenduri kahwen papa (bang ipar) ni kene harap kat abang lagi". ceh ... macam la pak cik tak tahu. nampak gaya nya tak leh tanggal lagi lah spender kaler merah yang pak cik pakai kat luar ni.

"mak suruh ko laung azan ngan baca doa masa mak nak gi haji nanti. mak suruh ko berlatih" sms kakak pak cik. "apo lak nak berlatih. kojo sonang yo tu" :)) muahahaha jawab pak cik. pak cik masa muda remaja dulu ada gak laungkan azan kat surau2. biasa aaaa tu. cuma kene carik la doa untuk orang pergi haji ni. kene hafal. tak kan nak baca doa selamat yang biasa2 tu kan?

soal jadik orang penting dan kuat ni tak timbul. sebagai anak lelaki yang tua hakikat tu dah lama pak cik tahu dan sedar. cuma kemampuan nak memikul nya tu ... lain citer lah kan? kan kan ...

Taboo Story : Preludium.

rasanya pak cik pernah menyentuh hal ini. perihal budak2 melayu. perihal ibu bapa mereka. secara am nya perihal orang2 melayu.

tak kira sepandai mana perempuan melayu kita, sejauh mana dia belajar hatta ke amerika atau ke london atau perancis, setinggi dan sebanyak mana peringkat kelulusan akademiknya, kebanyakkan orang2 perempuan melayu tetap mengamalkan sikap dan pemikiran yang telah diterapkan sejak kecil samada secara sedar atau tidak.

berapa ramai ibu2 melayu yang menyusukan anak2 tidor dengan anak kecil mereka? kadang2 para bapa terpaksa beralah.

berapa ramai isteri2 melayu yang enggan melepaskan status isteri sedangkan hak2 mereka sebagai isteri tidak lagi dilunaskan oleh suami mereka.

adakah benar melayu itu malas? melayu tidak berdaya maju?

jika benar apakah salah dan silap nya?

pak cik baru balik dari bank. hajat nya nak menukar kad atm yang dah banyak kali memberi masalah. cip rosak? kejap leh ekses ke sistem. kejap tak leh. kejap leh kuar duit. kejap tak bleh. malang nya hajat tak kesampaian. mula2 gi cawangan di seksi 9. cawangan itu sedang off line. 'system down' katanya di sebabkan black out. bekalan elektrik dah ok cuma nya sistem bank itu kelam kelibut. terpaksa lah pergi pula ke cawangan seksi 13 di pusat membeli belah giant. pegawai bank tu pulak nak kan buku bank. mana nak bawak? entah ke mana gerangan nya buku bank tu pun tak tahu la. pak cik tanya pegawai bank tu .. abih kalau buku bank takder mcm mana? tak bleh kuarkan duit la ya? senang jek dia menjawab "ntah ler". ponek den!

tu sebab nya pak cik tak suka simpan duit di bank. pak cik lebih suka bawak duit tunai ke mana2. jika kat rumah pak cik simpan duit bawah bantal, bawah tilam, celah2 lipatan baju dan di celah2 apa sahaja yang pak cik rasa selamat. tak termasuk duit siling yang bersepah2.

tak logik rasanya bila menyimpan duit kat bank tapi bila nak bawak kuar duit punya la masalah. belum masuk lagi duit minyak, penat menapak di tengah panas atau di tengah malam, mesin atm duit off line atau kehabisan duit atau dah tutup di tengah2 malam. banyak lagi lah masalah nya ...

politics & economy - pre-amble.

when i read the news about the sacking in June, it gave me a chill. felt to my spine. the sacking is due to RM120 million loss said due to commodity future trading that turn sour. here, i also looking into a potential losses due to some transactions in euro that we failed to hedge which could resulted in loss by thousands ringgit and continue to grow as the euro continue to hike against RM. could i loose my job over it?

we originally had safely hedged 2+ million euro. but then came the variation order of 300k+ euro. we didn't hedge cause the exchange rate already way beyond the rate that we wanted. otherwise we have to suffer losses. i advise them to wait cause i sexpect the euro will come down. but it didn't for a long time and continue to ris higher and higher. and during that time there already various calls that we should put up a strategy to minimise loss. as long as the euro continue to climb agaist RM, the potential loss will be bigger and bigger.

here i am putting my neck. anything goes wrong i will get the kick. but if it goes well, gues who will get the pat at the back. definitely not me! there will be a hero who will take centre stage. that is the risk doing the things that dificult and no one dare to come forward to do it. and i being pushed to carry the burden. got wear red underwear outside and take the bullets.

finally the euro came down. went down below the rate that we wanted. so .. additional gain there. and now it continue to went down. the guy already whisper we should wait. i quickly told them to stop thinking about it. case closed. we are not in the speculating business!

politics & economy - a glance.

i hate politics. sometimes i got to push myself on politics news either on paper/mag/tabloid or tv or radio. y? cause whether you like it or not, in Malaysia, our politics got direct link with our economy. what happen on politic will have direct impact on our economy.

i donno what to describe my feeling when reading the news about sime darby. link for a glance on it provided hereunder.

if i am not mistaken, current Selangor MB is responsible in taking over sime darby and guthrie from the mat salleh by buying the shares on London Stock Exchange long time ago (i am pretty sure he was responsibe for wrested guthrie from the british). he was then conferred with the position of CEO in Guthrie with some shares option. please be reminded that guthrie and sime darby is under the government via shares hold by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

guthrie is more on plantation and properties while sime darby is well diversified onto other areas. mind you ... it is not easy to manage this two conglomerate. even to manage the estates either rubber or palm oil is not an easy task. but with the system left behind by the colonial, the local can do it. kudos to colonial. some genius dunno either from heaven or hell then merged these two into one which resulted in the exit of the current Selangor MB. why hell and heaven. cause some call it eithe way according to their perspective. whether really hell or heaven, time will answer. if hell ... then perhaps it is too late to do anything.

PNB is the biggest fund manager in malaysia created by the genius back then. it is supposed to help both the public and the nation as well. amongst malay ... their Amanah Saham Bumiputra (ASB) may ring a bell. a loud one.

under PNB there is so much invested companies that called government linked companies (GLC). including guthrie and sime darby. also Maybank. so ... any adversed effect on these GLCs will bring disaster to public as well as the nation as a whole. there are other vehicles created by government for such purposes like Khazanah Holdings Bhd. and do not forget the shares held by EPF, tabung haji, various pensioner and EPF similar funds.

thus it is important to ensure that the management both at PNB and GLCs are a sound one. appointed according to merit and their ability and perhaps proven track record. they must have good governance.

and they are appointed by the government, the politician. see the link there?

with the losses currently reported by maybank and sime darby it is time to ask whether the fundamental issue is being addressed. are they managed properly? is there a political interference that affecting them?

about maybank, they used to be the no 1 local bank in malaysia. i am not sure now. but from the public, the news are not good. there are so much complaints on them. slow, non-responsive, not helping bla bla. on the maybank's staff morale? ask them. is the rise of CIMB has influenced in it?
wanna know whether the government is helping you or not, take a look at those GLCs and their direct impact on our life. like Petronas, PLUS, TNB, Telekom, Proton, bla bla bla ...

how about those services supposedly provided by government like medical, education, roads and etc etc.

how about the products and services provided by companies protected or controlled by government (via licensing, permits etc etc) like telecommunication, entertainment, news and bla bla.

how about the goverment policies whether short term or long term that have long affect on our life such as industrial and agriculture policies. on foods at the moment we depend too much on import. once the typhoon hit myanmar then we face with double price hike for rice. what happen if the typhoon hit thailand and vietnam? makan ubi kayu lah kita seperti yang di cadangkan oleh tuan menteri kita tempohari. if we can produce our own food then we can save on our import. less money going out. if we do better at it then perhaps we can do sexport. more money come in thru sexport.

a simple question. why can't the houses in putrajaya be sold at lower price? why can't the houses in other area cheaper than what it is now?

another simple question. why the chinese in kelantan do not have a problem in voting the 'parti bulan' in every general elections?

pak cik letih. hari ni masuk opis lepas lunch. tadi hanya tido sesudah subuh.

keaadaan kak lang di khabarkan sudah nazak. otaknya di lapurkan sebagai memberi sedikit reaksi ataupun sedikit aktif sahaja. jam tiga pagi tadi pak cik bawak isteri pak cik ke hospital. anak-anak kak lang telah pun sampai terlebih dahulu. yang tua sudah duduk di sisi katil membaca yaasin.

tujuan pak cik bawa isteri pak cik ke sana agar sempat melihat kakak nya. mana tahu ... tujuan lain adalah memberi sokongan kepada anak2 kak lang dan juga mak. mak kelihatan cukup sugul. wajah nya tak dapat di bayangkan. very frail ...

yang tinggal hanyalah sedikit harapan. sedikit keajaiban. walaupun sedikit masih di genggam kukuh.

in sombre mood.

this time raya umah mak dan ayah. meaning few days before raya n first daya raya we will be 'berkampung' there before depart to my inlaw hometown in lenggeng usually after dzohor. 'berkampung' meaning helping my parents n sisters in making raya cookies, ketupat, ketupat palas, rendang ayam and rendang daging. in those old days the raya cookies could be mutiple varieties like kuih ros, bahulu, lemang etc etc that require us have a war with fore & heats while fasting. luckily this year no more raya cookies. strictly those rendangs and ketupats. due largely to 'tak larat'. age is catching up with everybody ... which left me time to go shopping at night with my own family at uptown sales as well as at komplek pkns on malam raya. then my wife got the first hand sexperience on 'malam raya lelong' there but she couldn't stand with the crowd.

as usual on first day hari raya after raya solat, we have this 'minta ampun dan maaf' with our parents. for the first time this year i hug them. and before my own family and i depart to my inlaws, i hug my sisters and kissed them. first timer also.

unlike previous year, this year my inlaws 'beraya' at the hospital. my mom inlaws and almost all her sons and daugters and cucu were there. kak lang still in hospital without any much improvement but we still pray for her recovery. just a couple of days before the doctor confirmed that my mom in law also had the 'stroke attack' albeit a light one. left her with difficulty to move. she really need to look after her diet and emotions.

we 'berkampung' at putrajaya afterwards. that evening and that night i was at the kitchen doing all kind of works like 'panaskan' all kind of rendangs, doing the cookings and wash the dishes while still clad in baju melayu. almost at midnight only i cud take a bath. all relatives from lenggeng came down to putrajaya, mainly to see my mom in laws. some continue to go to hospital to visit kak lang.

raya kedua, isteri pakcik pula mengetuai kerja2 di dapur. pak cik tolong2 aje jika perlu. hanya selepas semua dah selesai di sebelah petang baru lah kami sekeluarga bertolak ke kampung di lenggeng. tujuan utama adalah beraya di rumah kak ipar dan anak2 nya, isteri abang ngah yang meninggal beberapa tahun lepas. kemudian beraya di rumah mak long terutama nya dengan cik ila, sepupu bini pak cik yang kematian anak istimewanya.

late evening we depart for melaka. this year we have to go back. pak cik kena melawat pak cik sedara who is bed ridden. sempat juga beraya di rumah sanak saudara belah ayah. di sebelah ibu, pak cik pergi beraya di rumah mak long dan pak itam.

tengahari sabtu baru bertolak pulang ke shah alam. pak cik ikut jalan lama kerana hendak beraya du rumah abang chik di rembau. sebelah petang nya baru bertolak ke shah alam. lebuhraya serembam sedikit 'jammed'. dalam perjalanan kami mendapat perkhabaran keadaan kak lang di hospital semakin merosot, beliau mendapat jangkitan kuman di paru2 dan akan di pindahkan semula ke wad rawatan rapi. khabar berita ini dengan sengaja nya di sembunyikan dari pengetahuan mak yang pada waktu itu berada di rumah kak long di kuala selangor. tigas pak cik malam itu adalah mengambil mak di sana, kak long dan angah, our baby sitter sekali.

ke esok kan nya kami melawat kak lang. oleh kerana kak lang di unit rawatan rapi, waktu melawat adalah terhad. ramai juga sanak saudara yang datang 'berkampung' di sana walaupun hanya di luar wad. pukul 2, pengawal keselamatan pun datang minta kami semua beredar dari sana.

petang itu juga kami mendapat perkhabaran, mak cik tua jiran kami sudah meninggal pada pagi hari raya kedua. beliau sakit tenat beberapa hari sebelum raya berikutan 'komplikasi' dari obat antibiotik yang di ambil nya.

begitulah raya tahun ini .... banyak bertemakan orang sakit dan kematian. bawak2 lah bersabar ...
